I was around 12, 13. My dad left, and it’s like everything just changed all of a sudden.

I started seeing my mum struggle financially, and I felt I had to do something because she was really trying hard.

So I went out. I got involved in the wrong thing… my main aim was to make money.

My friend getting stabbed was a major turning point. I thought “this could be you.” This is what my mum could go through. What my sister, my family could through.

I had to take myself out from that environment.

Having a job as a delivery driver has been a massive distraction. Like, literally, when I’m driving, I don’t remember all that stuff. It’s just positive stuff.

My mum feels very proud, she tells me all the time. And it’s actually great, you know, to hear that from your mum
